I Live Where I Work
I am Chuck Cortese, owner of To Done Handyman Service. I have lived and worked in the Plainfield/Joliet, IL area for 25 years. I opened my small business in 2018 because I enjoy working with my hands to create, repair, and upgrade homes. I grew up in Chicago where my parents rented apartments to college students and young professionals. From a young age, I learned to use tools and my hands to help repair and upgrade just about every room in those 100-year-old apartment buildings.
After graduating from college with a business degree, I entered the job market as a medical device salesman and then became a restaurant manager. Instead of loving the business component of sales and restaurant management, I was happiest using my hands to troubleshoot malfunctioning medical devices or repairing restaurant equipment or building store fixtures.
When friends asked me if I knew anyone who could hang a ceiling fan, replace some drywall or put in some new plank flooring, I didn't hesitate to offer my help. One of my first clients thanked me for repairing broken grout in her tile and said, "I can cross that off my to do list." In that moment, To Done Handyman Service was born. I upgraded my career to handyman and use my lifetime of experience to take projects from to do, To Done.
When I'm not working, you can find me spending time with my family and our black Lab mutt. We love to hike, cook, play board games and do projects together in our "fixer-upper" home that always seems to need something repaired or upgraded.
